Watch Me Grow: 21 weeks

I think the time has come that I officially look pregnant!  I am really starting to feel little babe move around a lot, mostly at work after I've eaten something.  Today I felt the first kick or punch that made me stop what I was doing it was so strong.  It didn't hurt or anything it's just a weird feeling and kind of shocked me.  This last week was a pretty good one and I am just feeling more and more stretched out.  The funny thing is I feel like my belly is so big, but I have 19 more weeks and the baby needs to gain about 6 more pounds before it's all over!  Andrez and I are loving my growing and laugh everyday about how all of the changes I am going through.

Here's an update on this last week!

How Far Along: 21 weeks (the baby is the length of a carrot and weighs about 11oz or so)

Total Weight Gain: I haven't weighed myself this week, but I go to my midwife next week, so I'll have to report back then.

Maternity Clothes:  Yes!  I am going to order some more with my Gap gift cards from Christmas and some Gap Cash I earned from an order earlier this month.  Gap maternity leggings are the bees knees!

Sleep:  I have been having some weird dreams lately!  I have been sleeping through the night but seem to wake up about an hour or so before my alarm every morning.  I'll take the 6-7 hours straight before that though.

Cravings:  Still tacos.  In fact, on Taco Tuesday this week, I ate 7, yes 7, tacos!  My appetite is out of control.  I am a bottomless pit!  I told my parents that I will be eating a meal and I almost get hungry again before my meal is over.  Andrez has been very supportive and tells me to eat to enjoy what I want because my body obviously needs it.

I am also craving citrus fruits, salmon, and fruit Popsicles.

Movement:  Yes!  Still not consistent at all, but definitely feeling stronger kicks and more each day!

Mood:  Good.  This was a good week emotionally.  I am really loving being pregnant right now and am trying to enjoy each and every day.  I am really looking forward to my pre-natal yoga class this weekend, as well as, the Superbowl!

Symptoms:  Overall,  most pregnancy symptoms have disappeared.  Not to be too TMI, but my boobs have started to hurt again.  They are going through some changes and I can feel them!  I woke up from boob pain last night, in fact!  I also get random cramps and pulling pains, which are round ligament pains that come from my uterus and everything stretching to accommodate my growing baby.  Other than that, I feel great!

Watch Me Grow! Weeks 18-20

It's hard to believe, but I am now at the half way point in my pregnancy-20 weeks!  I can't believe how fast it's gone so far and can't believe that we're going to meet our little babe in 4.5 months!  These past few weeks have been really good.  We had a doctor's appointment where we got to hear little babe's heartbeat, 155 bpm, and we had our anatomy scan.  We LOVED the hour long ultrasound where we got to see our little baby, their brain, heart, profile, fingers, toes, arms, and legs.  He or she was putting on quite a show for us by sucking on their little thumb (we even got to see their tongue!) and putting their entire fist in their mouth!  We got the news on Friday that the baby is perfect and healthy, which was great to hear!

Here are some pregnancy updates:

How Far Along: 20 weeks (our baby is the length of a banana and weighs 10oz!)

Total Weight Gain: According to my scale: 9-10 lbs. According to the doctor: 11 lbs.

Maternity Clothes:  Yes!  I actually ordered a pair of Gap Maternity leggings and jeans and they are comfy!  I still have tops and dresses that aren't maternity that fit and that I wear.  All of my jackets and sweatshirts are TIGHT and I can barely zipper them up!

Sleep:  I still wake up every night to go to the bathroom, however, my sister recently ordered me this Snoogle pillow.  It looks funny, but it is comfy!!  I have slept so much more soundly with it and if you are pregnant, do yourself a favor and order one!!

Cravings:  Tacos--hard shell, ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and salsa, to be exact!  I can't get enough of them!  I have also been craving citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and lemons.  My appetite has grown tremendously, so in general, I am eating a lot more!  I feel a little bit like a bottomless pit, so I eat lots of fruits, but also enjoy a bag of Skittles or Dairy Queen blizzard, too!

Gender:  We didn't find out, only 20 more weeks until we know if this little babe is a he or she!

Movement:  I still am not feeling the baby a ton, but I am feeling them.  Last week (at Week 19), Andrez was able to feel the baby for the first time by touching my stomach.  It was pretty amazing for him to get to feel our baby for the first time and I can't wait until we feel punches and kicks everyday!

Mood:  Overall, pretty good, but a little overwhelmed.  It's a lot to take in that we are going to be responsible for a perfect, new baby in a short few months.  I want to make sure things are in order and ready, but I am also trying to relax and enjoy this time.  This will be my only first pregnancy and I am trying to soak in every minute of the excitement, nervousness, and all of the firsts Andrez and I are going though.

I took my first pre-natal yoga class today and really enjoyed it!  I think I am going to be a little sore because I have not worked out my entire pregnancy, but it felt good to stretch and do something good for my mind and body.  I also liked the social aspect of it as all of the girls in the class introduced themselves and could talk about their week, where they are at in their pregnancy, and how they are feeling.  I have already signed up for four more and plan to take them through the delivery.

Watch Me Grow! Weeks 15-17

I can honestly say that I am finally starting to feel better!  It has been a week since I have thrown up, I am starting to get more energy, and with my belly growing, it's becoming a quick reality that Andrez and I are going to be parents in less than 6 months!

We went home for a week for Christmas and got to spend some much needed quality time with our families.  We got lots of delicious homemade meals like carne asada, ribs, turkey and ham, and prime rib!  I left with my belly full, which I'm sure the baby loved after weeks of me eating whatever it was I craved, which was usually not home cooked or healthy.

I am starting to not fit into any of my regular clothes, so my mom and I made a trip to the Gap, where I got some of my first maternity clothes!  To any of my friends who are pregnant or will be one day, do yourselves a favor and buy maternity clothes, they are the most comfortable clothes you can wear!  I was trying to stretch (literally!) my normal clothes for as long as possible, but maternity clothes are so much more forgiving, comfortable, and made for your growing body.  Going up a size in regular clothing looked awkward, so I'm happy that I have comfy clothes now.

Here are some of the most asked questions and some updates on my pregnancy for my current week:

How Far Along: 17 weeks (our baby is the size of a turnip!)

Total Weight Gain: About 8 pounds.

Maternity Clothes:  Yes, I am wearing maternity clothes, but I do still have dresses, tunics, sweaters, and leggings that aren't maternity that I'm wearing.

Sleep:  I'm not sleeping really well.  I wake up to go to the bathroom at least once per night and I wake up randomly at different times.  I am also a stomach and back sleeper, which I won't be able to do much longer!

Cravings:  Black tea (any way-hot, iced, sweet, unsweetened, with sugar and milk), beef, pork sausage, green apples, salmon salad sandwiches, and Skittles.  Random, I know and no, I don't eat/drink these all together!

Gender:  We aren't finding out!  We want it to be a surprise!  If I am going on intuition, I would say I'm leaning towards a girl, but who knows!

Movement:  I've felt little bubbles and flutters, but I'm not sure if they are actually movements.  I've been told that's what they feel like, but honestly, they could just be gas bubbles for all I know!

Mood:  My moods kind of shift.  I have been much more sentimental and I was really sad when I had to leave my family this last weekend.  I would also say I have been more calm and not as much of a worrier as I have been in the past.  Overall, I am really happy and so excited to be pregnant!
